Speakers set for Democratic convention
Douglas County’s Democrats will hold their county convention on April 15 at 1:30 p.m. at Western Nevada Community College, Douglas in Minden.
Speakers for the afternoon include A. Brian Wallace, chairman of the Washoe Tribe of California and Nevada; Assemblywoman Bonnie Parnell, D-Carson City, and Ernie Adler, former Democratic state senator from Carson City.
Wallace will discuss issues facing tribal members and their on-going efforts in Washington, D.C., to protect the environment, particularly the status of measures to preserve Lake Tahoe.
Adler and Parnell will talk about the Nevada Legislature and the status of Democratic leadership in committee assignments.
Participants at the convention will elect delegates to the state convention May 19-21 in Las Vegas and adopt resolutions to submit at the state level for the national convention. Elections also will be held for officers to serve the Democratic Central Committee for the next two years. The annual summer picnic also will be planned.
