Snow falls in Carson Valley

Snow fell in Genoa on Saturday morning frosting the town, while the mountains above Nevada’s oldest town bore the brunt of the first winter storm of the year.
More than 2.15 inches of precipitation fell over night just north of town. Snow accumulation is less than a quarter inch.
According to a special statement issued by the National Weather Service a winter storm warning for the Lake Tahoe Basin will expire at 10 a.m. today.
The weather service is forecasting a colder, dryer storm to arrive on Sunday and Monday.
Today’s weather calls for continued snow showers with a high temperature near 40 degrees. The wind will increase to 20-25 mph, gusting to 40 mph.
The storm prompted a power outage in Carson Valley. NV Energy had the power restored by 9:30 a.m.
