Sheriff’s office welcomes new deputy

Staff Reports

Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini swore in 22-year-old Luke O’Sullivan as a new deputy Tuesday in a ceremony at the valley station in Minden.

The appointment followed several months of testing and evaluation including a written examination, physical agility test, oral interview, extensive background investigation, psychological evaluation, polygraph examination, and medical exam.

O’Sullivan will undergo a 12-week jail training program to provide him the knowledge and skills necessary to perform his duties as a jail deputy.

O’Sullivan grew up in Mayer, Ariz., and earned an associate in arts degree in criminal justice from Yavapai College.

He and his girlfriend Tara Richardson live in Minden.
