Sheriff’s office seeking information on theft, fraud

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying this person of interest in a theft at the Smith’s Grocery Store in Gardnerville, and an unlawful use of a credit card at the Shell Gas Station in Minden.

On June 21, at approximately 5 p.m., the victim was shopping in Smith’s grocery store and had her purse in the cart.

According to the police report, the victim turned away from the cart and the suspect, a white male, in his late 50s with graying hair wearing a white T-shirt, bumped into her and walked away. A short time later the victim noticed her wallet missing from her purse.

The victim notified her credit card companies about her stolen credit cards and was advised one of her cards was used at the Shell Gas station in Minden.

A reward is being offered to anyone with information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the suspect. The caller’s identity is not needed.
