Sheriff’s office hosts child safety seat inspection

Staff Reports

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is holding a child passenger safety seat checkpoint 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Minden station, 1038 Buckeye Road.

Deputies will be on hand to inspect child passenger safety seats and install new ones. Free car seats will be provided for low income families.

Nevada law mandates that children under age 6 or weighing less than 60 pounds be restrained in safety seats in vehicles.

The seat must be appropriate for the size and weight of the child.

The seat must be installed properly and the restraint must be approved by the federal Department of Transportation.
