The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is hosting open houses in Minden and Lake Tahoe to celebrate National Law Enforcement Week.

The Minden event is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the main station in the Judicial and Law Enforcement Center, 1038 Buckeye Road, Minden.

The Lake Tahoe station is hosting a similar event 5-7 p.m. May 8 at the substation, 175 Highway 50 in Stateline.

Sheriff Ron Pierini said the open houses give the public an opportunity to tour the stations — including the jails — and see demonstrations and displays.

The evening begins with presentation of the colors by the DCSO Honor Guard at 5:15 p.m., including a special invocation and ceremony for officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty throughout the United States.

Free hot dogs, chips and refreshments will be provided.

■ Special Weapons and Tactic team vehicles and gear
