Sewer on tap at GRGID meeting

by Merrie Leininger

More problems with the sewer conversion will be the topic at Wednesday’s Gardnerville Rancho General Improvement District meeting.

The board will meet 7 p.m. at the district office at 931 Mitch Dr.

Three Ranchos residents asked to be put on the agenda to address the board regarding their hookup fees and sewer bills.

Dale and Gail Rasmussen of 940 Arrowhead Dr. said they were told they would not have to hook up to the sewer system in 1989 because they need a lift station.

They are requesting a decrease in the hookup fee.

Wilbur Leeds of 970 Mitch Dr. is requesting the GRGID reimburse him for the $500 contractor work done to install the sewer line. When the the hole was dug, it was discovered they were already on the sewer system.

Michael and Kathy Brummer of 1442 Annkim Circle also recently discovered they were hooked up to the system when the district conducted a dye test at their home. There is no sewer permit on file with the GRGID.

They are requesting relief from paying the past quarterly sewer bill.

n 1998 street improvement. The board will listen to information regarding the contract for the 1998 street improvement project.

The contract was awarded July 8 to low bidder T.E. Bertagnolli & Associates. The contract has not been signed and returned to the district. Bertagnolli is asking the district to adjust the bid because of a discrepancy between word and numeric figures on the bid. The company said this discrepancy will cause them to lose money if they did the work for the base bid of $410,281.23.

According to project manager Randall Long of Lumos and Associates, Bertagnolli is in violation of the contract provisions and the award may legally be revoked and given to another company.

n Stop signs and speeding. Residents of Pollen Court and the Sunburst Subdivision have requested installation of speed limits of 15 mph and “children at play” signs.

n Purchase. Wayne Denney is asking to lease with the option to buy a strip of land behind 1372 Cardinal Court.
