Highway 395 collision claims Reno man’s life
February 15, 2017
A 69-year-old Reno man died of injuries he received in a Wednesday collision on Highway 395 south of Gardnerville in the Pine Nut Mountains.
Donald David Chisolm was driving a Ford Fusion north on Highway 395 near China Spring when he drifted off of the roadway.
In an effort to get back onto the highway, he overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, crossing over the double yellow line and into the path of a Ford Expedition.
The Expedition's driver could not avoid the Fusion and they collided head-on, according to NHP Trooper Dan Gordon.
A passenger in the Fusion received serious injuries and was helicoptered to Renown Regional Medical Center. The driver of the Expedition was taken to Reno via East Fork ambulance.
Gordon said no one in the vehicles was wearing seatbelts. The wreck was reported 4:21 p.m. and delayed traffic for a few hours.
