Senior Games planned
Volunteers to help plan and carry out the first Douglas County Northern Nevada Senior Games in May of next year are being sought by Kathy Maidlow, county senior services supervisor.
A meeting will be held Nov. 17 at 8 a.m. to start planning, and anyone who is interested in helping out is invited, Maidlow said.
The meeting will be held at the Gardnerville senior citizens center.
Needed are chairmen for 24 events, including such competitions as table tennis, volleyball, bowling, tennis, paddle tennis and swimming. For a complete list, call Maidlow at 782-8267.
Events to be held in conjunction with the games also need volunteer chairmen, and eight directors are needed for the board which will oversee the competition.
Help is needed for advertising and entertainment, sponsorships, awards, opening ceremonies and other activities.
Sponsorships are also sought. Sponsors would donate at various levels and in return receive special bonuses.
For instance, a $1,000 donor would be identified in all promotion of the games with full page ads on program front or back pages, plus have logos placed on the official banner and on shirts. The business or individual would also be profiled in the program and receive free admission to games.
A gold sponsor would receive outside or inside cover ads in the program as available, free admissions and logos on shirts. A silver sponsor at the $500 level would get a half-page ad in the programs, have logo placed on athletes’ tote bags and have free admission.
The bronze sponsorship level will receive a quarter-page ad, have name or logo on event shirts and free admission. All sponsors would be mentioned in media releases.
Advertising from business-card size to full-page size are being sold in the program.
