January 11, 2012
A reward has been increased to $1,000 for information in the killing of a family dog and alleged burglary attempt at their Gardnerville Ranchos home.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect responsible for the dog’s death and possibly attempting to burglarize the home on New Year’s Eve.
The Hyden family, who reside on Jobs Peak Drive, were away from their home from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. New Year’s morning.
Upon returning, the Hydens found one of their four dogs dead in the driveway. The dog appeared to have been run over by a vehicle. A side gate to their backyard was ajar. One dog was present, a second dog was missing, but later found.
The original reward of $250 has been raised to $1,000 from Secret Witness for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
