Scott voted new Minden manager

by Sheila Gardner

Gardnerville resident and China Spring Youth Camp office manager Jenifer Scott was voted the new manager of the town of Minden on Wednesday night.

Scott was approved over Minden resident John Greenhut, who is retired director of public works for City of South Lake Tahoe, and Douglas County Senior Center Director Travis Lee.

Two other candidates for the job, Mike Jarrett and Victorville, Calif., deputy town manager Aaron Palmer, dropped out of the running.

Each of the candidates was allowed a 15-minute presentation before the town board Wednesday night.

The debate, however, centered on Greenhut and Scott early on and continued for more than an hour. In the end the board voted 3-2 for Scott, with Steve Thaler, John Stephans and Roxanne Stangle voting in favor and Charlie Condron and Matt Bernard against. Scott worked for Thaler when he was director of China Spring Youth Camp.

The salary range is $74,246-$99,756 plus benefits.

The vacancy was created with the July resignation of the town’s first manager, Roger Van Alyne, who served 15 months in the job.
