Rock and bowl and Wink’s Silver Strike Lanes

Popular South Lake Tahoe rockers Lavish Green play Wink's Silver Strike Lanes 9 p.m. Oct. 15 at 1281 Kimmerling Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

The band features lead vocalist/trumpeter Chris Sanchez, guitarist/backup vocalist Joel Gruneich, bassist/backup vocalist Rob Wheeler, and drummer Danny Barnes.

Lavish Green have been playing and evolving as a band for more than 20 years. They're a fixture on the Lake Tahoe music scene and have been included in Lake Tahoe Tribune's "Best of Tahoe" list. The band is well known for its heartfelt, energetic rock performances that appeal to a variety of audiences.

The Oct. 15 show is for those 21 and over and there's a $7 cover. Lanes will be open for bowling and food and drink specials will be offered throughout the evening.

October bingo at the Elks Lodge

The Tahoe-Douglas Elks host bingo tonight at the lodge, 1227 Kimmerling Road in the Ranchos. Doors open at 5 p.m. with early bird games starting at 6.

Games are held the first and third Friday of each month and are open to those 21 and older. Beer, wine, soda, water, hot dogs, chili, chips, and candy bars are available for purchase; coffee and pretzels are complimentary.

Golf tournament

Carson Valley Golf Course hosts the "Würst Golf Tournament Ever" tomorrow morning, Oct. 8 starting at 10 a.m.

Golfers will play a scramble format for prizes. $40 covers the game, brats, and beer. Lederhosen are optional and encouraged!

Meneley Walk-A-Thon a shining success

Thanks to the generous support of family, friends, and neighbors, Meneley Elementary students raised over $18,000 during this year's "Walking on Sunshine" fundraiser. 100 percent of the proceeds stay at the school and benefit programs including the Science Fair, Invention Convention, annual art show, field trips, classroom needs, and assemblies.

Way to go, Meneley Mountain Lions! And thank you to all who contributed to the overwhelming success of this year's event.
