Residents to be polled on transportation
Douglas County residents can give their opinions on how to improve public transportation starting Monday.
Survey forms for a state-sponsored transit improvement program will be available at most county offices. Residents will be asked about their driving and work habits, where they go, how often, when and other details that will help coordinators determine what types of transportation are needed.
The survey is open to residents of all ages. Douglas County Senior Services Supervisor Kathy Maidlow, who represents the county on a regional transit task force, said she expects to distribute about 2,000 copies of the survey.
Organizers hope to complement existing community transit programs with services that will operate daily throughout the region. The programs would be available to everyone.
The survey forms must be returned by Sept. 30 the senior center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. For more information, call Maidlow at 782-3075.
