Reno man jailed in lewdness with child

A Reno handyman is in Douglas County Jail on $100,000 bail on a charge of lewdness with a child under 14.
Ernest Eastland, 33, is set for a hearing Wednesday in East Fork Justice Court stemming from an incident Aug. 8.
He is accused of improperly touching an 11-year-old girl at a Gardnerville residence where he was doing plumbing work.
Eastland denied the girl’s allegations.

Two people were arrested for domestic battery, eight contacts were for verbal domestic reports, one was referred to the Douglas County district attorney for a warrant and one was referred for review.

Eight juveniles witnessed domestic violence. Four were suspects for domestic violence including one who was arrested for battery against a parent.
Of five temporary restraining orders submitted to East Fork Justice Court by the Family Support Council, four were approved.
One stalking and harassment order was submitted, but not approved.
Connie Richardson, domestic violence prevention coordinator for the sheriff’s office, said contacts are average for this time of year.
She reported an increase in juvenile suspects and said requests for temporary restraining orders are average while stalking and harassment orders are down.
