Relay for Life turns Lampe Park purple
Douglas County Relay for Life will be at Lampe Park this year 9a.m.-9 p.m. July 16.
This year’s theme is Paint Our Town Purple.
“Come show your purple pride, celebrate life, remember those we’ve lost and fight back against cancer,” Event Lead Lena Frias said.
Douglas Relay will start the day with a pancake breakfast fundraiser beginning at 8 am followed by the event opening ceremony at 9 am.
Returning this year is the Survivor Zone, hosted by the BeautiControl Program that will provide complimentary spa hand and foot treatments for community survivors and caregivers.
A survivor luncheon will be held onsite the day of the event and is also free for survivors and caregivers.
A few of this years’ Relay for Life event activities include a tie dye booth, scavenger hunt, face painting, bra pong, Raley’s Spin the Wheel, walking bingo, conga lap and Big Foot Relay Race.
New this year is the Hydration Station to keep participants cool through-out the day.
“Returning this year is the annual Road to Recovery Soap Box Derby, which is a team favorite,” Frias said.
A variety of food and a barbecue venue will be a part of the event as well as music provided by Rolling Thunder Entertainment.
There will be onsite raffles, fundraising and vendor booths.
