Record-Courier wins national recognition

In addition to state recognition, The Record-Courier has been honored by the National Newspaper Association for writing excellence.

The R-C placed second in a nationwide competition that drew entries in 90 categories from nearly 3,000 daily and weekly newspapers in 46 states.

The NNA Better Newspaper Contest honors the best in community journalism in categories that include design, writing, and photography.

The R-C also received an honorable mention for best coverage of education.

Judges wrote that the R-C provides “excellent work with a strictly local flavor. Solid writing throughout. Top-notch newspaper with good writing.”

The awards will be presented next week at the NNA convention in Louisville, Ky.
