R-C Morning (Storm) Report for Dec. 30

There are road controls on pretty much every stretch of highway in Western Nevada from Highway 395 south of Carson City through Douglas County and almost to Bridgeport. Highway 50 is requiring chains or snow tires from Stateline at Lake Tahoe all the way out to about Mark Twain. Carson Pass, Echo Summit and Donner Summit are all under road controls. Kingsbury Grade and Highway 208 from Holbrook to Smith also have road controls.

There are a few accidents up in Reno that look like spinouts of some sort. Take it easy out on the roads today because they are icy. Highway 395’s road temperature through the Valley is below freezing, so go slow.

There’s 2 inches of powder in Genoa that fell over the last two hours since about 4 a.m. We’ve got most of the snowfall we were forecast to receive, but there’s a possibility for more snow showers this morning. It’s 22 degrees out, but where there’s wind that will feel colder. A winter weather advisory for the Valley expires at 10 a.m.
