R-C, Appeal name publisher

The general manager of Sierra Nevada Media Group has been named publisher of The Record-Courier and the Nevada Appeal.
Mark Raymond was longtime publisher for The News-Review in Roseburg, Ore. He has been interim publisher of the two newspapers.
Raymond, 60, will continue overseeing the Lahontan Valley News, Northern Nevada Business Weekly, the Tahoe Daily Tribune, the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza, the Sierra Sun, and commercial printing.
The veteran newspaper executive has been publisher for the past 30 years for diverse newspaper operations across six states.
His early career included work in advertising sales and management, as well as work as a reporter and editor.
“I’ve been very impressed with the people I’ve met and the prospects for the future of Carson City and Douglas County,” Raymond said.

Raymond had been publisher of The News-Review in Roseburg since 2000 and was named general manager of Sierra Nevada Media Group in January 2011.
He assumed interim publisher responsibilities for the Nevada Appeal and The Record-Courier in September.
Raymond, a Michigan native, earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and his master’s in administration from Central Michigan University.
He and his wife, Paulette, have four adult children and are in the process of relocating from Oregon to Carson City.
