Publisher named for Sierra Sun, North Lake Tahoe Bonanza
The former advertising manager for the Sierra Sun and North Lake Tahoe Bonanza has been named publisher of the two newspapers owned by the Reno-based Swift Communications Inc.
Michael Gelbman has been in the newspaper business for 23 years with experience in Colorado as well as the Boston and San Diego markets.
He was working as a group publisher with the Bay Area News Group when he took the advertising job in October 2009 at the Bonanza based in Incline Village and the Sun in Truckee, Calif. He has a bachelor’s degree in business from Michigan State University.
The Sun and Bonanza are part of the Sierra Nevada Media Group, which also publishes The Record-Courier, Nevada Appeal, Tahoe Daily Tribune, Lahontan Valley News and the Northern Nevada Business Press.
