Project School Days accepting donations
August 2, 2017
In its 20th year, Project School Days is accepting donations for the upcoming school year.
The nonprofit, volunteer organization fills requests from Douglas County teachers for their students that need school materials.
Requested supplies range from crayons, pens and pencils to notebooks, dictionaries, backpacks and calculators. This program has been approved by the Douglas County School District.
The program serves students in the Douglas County CASA program and kids at Austin's House. Project School Days also supplies a backpack to kids returning home from China Spring and Aurora Pines Youth Camps so they can return to school ready to learn.
The main distribution takes place just after school starts but teachers may request supplies at any time during the school year. Last year approximately 29 percent of the district teachers participated giving supplies to about 530 kids or 14 percent of the student enrollment.
Project School Days is a nonprofit, totally volunteer organization, Federal I. D. #88-0393599. Contributions are tax deductible. Checks may be mailed to: Project School Days, P. O. Box 3052, Gardnerville, NV. 89410 For further information, call Marilyn Malkmus at 782-4931.
