Power pole blamed for TRE fire

Firefighters responded to a quarter-acre fire in the area of Topaz Rancho Road and Eagle Mountain at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. The fire appears to have started from a power pole issue, according to East Fork Fire District Deputy Chief Dave Fogerson.

“Brush 4 with three firefighters were quickly on scene and able to contain the fire while crews responded from Station 7 in the Ranchos responded to assist,” he said. A water tender from Station 5 at Topaz responded to supply water to Brush 4. Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies assisted with traffic control until NvEnergy arrived on scene to examine the power pole.

A small grass fire was extinguished on Mark Twain Avenue near Masonic at around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

East Fork Firefighters responded to a report of grass on fire near a home.

The fire was ignited by a mechanical device and was under control when firefighters arrived.

No one was injured and no property damaged.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue responded to a report of a stranded motorist near Leviathan Mine Road at 10:40 a.m.

According to searchers, the vehicle high-centered, puncturing the oil pan, causing the engine to seize.

The driver was transported out, but the truck will have to be towed out.
