Power outage affects 2,500 in south county, Lyon and Mono

About 2,500 NV Energy customers were without electricity for 2-3 hours on Wednesday after a substation near Weed Heights shut down.
Residents of Topaz Ranch Estates, Coleville, Walker, and Yerington were affected by the 4 p.m. outage, according to power company spokesman Karl Walquist.
Walquist said troubleshooters are working on diagnosing why the circuit wouldn’t reset.
Power was restored to customers by switching to an alternate circuit. Walquist said the switch shouldn’t affect power quality in the area.
