Pedestrian hit on sidewalk remains in hospital
A 43-year-old woman remains in the hospital after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the driveway of a Gardnerville auto parts store on Monday.
The woman, whose identity is not yet being released by the Nevada Highway Patrol, was walking across the O’Reilly Auto Parts Store’s driveway while a Toyota truck driven by Jack Wayne Hewlett, 23, was waiting for her at about 2:35 p.m.
According to Trooper Dan Lopez, a gray Toyota Camry driven by Reno resident Samantha Aguilar, 24, struck the rear of the white truck causing the truck to move forward striking the pedestrian.
The woman sustained serious injuries and was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by CareFlight helicopter.
Both drivers’ of the other two vehicles were transported via ground to the Carson Valley Medical Center for nonlife-threatening injuries.
The NHP has not released the name of the pedestrian.
