Partnership golf tournament Oct. 9

Staff reports

The Partnership of Community Resources is sponsoring its first annual golf tournament Monday, Oct. 9, at Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch.

Tickets are $75 which includes a $25 dinner.

Proceeds from the event will go to the non-profit agency’s ongoing efforts to secure grants for such programs as the East Fork Justice Court alternative sentencing program, the Juvenile Probation Office Wilderness program, victim mediation, the parks and recreation department teen open gym and Hispanic elementary student tutoring project

Since 1992, the Partnership has secured more than $675,000 in grants to help fund the programs.

“What we’re all about is helping people in the community,” said executive director Cheryl Bricker.

Proceeds from the golf tournament will assist in bringing a Boys and Girls Club to Carson Valley and promote activities to support drug, alcohol and tobacco prevention among the youth of the Valley.

Home Depot is donating a $1,000 shopping spree which will be raffled.

“We’re so grateful for the generosity of Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch and Home Depot,

Bricker said.

Bricker urged golfers to register early because she anticipates a sell-out crowd. Registration on Oct. 9 begins at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m.

Dinner, a buffet with a choice of a New York steak or chicken marsala, is included in the registration. Additional dinner guests are welcome at $25 per person.

Anyone who would like to sponsor a hole for $100, or donate a raffle prize is asked to contact Bricker. For information, or to register, call Bricker at 782-8611.
