P.E.O. awards scholarship to All State nominee

P.E.O. Chapter AN of Carson Valley has awarded Allison Meyer, a Douglas High graduating senior, a $3,000 scholarship.

“Allison is an outstanding student with a 4.156 GPA and has taken many AP and honors courses,” Scholarship Committee member Nancy Stephenson said.

She has chosen elementary education as a major and will attend George Fox University in Oregon in the fall.

Allison has been playing softball for several years and has been recruited to play on the Divsion III team at George Fox.

She has chosen to study elementary education because of the inspiration she received from her third and fourth grade teachers.

Her extracurricular activities include National Honor Society, Block D Letterman’s Club and Art Club.

Allison has been named three times to the NIAA Nevada All State Academic Team, and five times she has been named the Carson Valley Athlete of the Week.

P.E.O is an internationl sisterhood with a mission of promoting educational opportunities for women.

P.E.O. has six philanthropies that include Cottey College, an independent, liberal arts and sciences college for women and five programs that provide educational assistance.

Scholarship committee members are Nancy Edmundson, Joanne Hall, Barbara Walton, Irene Taylor and Nancy Stephenson.
