Oregon women killed in central Nevada crash
Two Portland, Ore., women were killed in a single vehicle rollover northeast of Tonopah on Thursday morning.
The identities of the women are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The crash is still under investigation and NHP officials don’t know which woman was driving.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the women were in a Ford Fusion traveling north on Highway 376 near the Big Smoky Valley northeast of Tonopah.
The driver lost control of the Fusion and in the effort to regain control overcorrected and rolled over. Neither woman was wearing a seatbelt, according to NHP spokesman Trooper Dan Gordon
One woman died at the scene, and the other succumbed to her injures after being helicoptered to Las Vegas for treatment. They were 22 and 23 years old.
