Open burn period continues through May 30
The spring open burn period begins today at 6 a.m. and continues through Sunday, May 30 at 3 p.m., the East Fork Fire and Paramedic districts announced.
Residents who wish to conduct yard clean-up burning must obtain a copy of the regulations which appear in today’s Record-Courier on page 14-a and will be published again Wednesday.
Residents are encouraged to clip the regulations from the newspaper and avoid having to pick up a form from the other distribution points.
On Monday, regulations may also be obtained at the East Fork Fire and Paramedic districts’ administrative office at the Minden Inn, 1594 Esmeralda Ave., or any Douglas County Sheriff’s Office substations in the Tillman Center, Gardnerville Ranchos; 3587 N. Sunridge Dr., in Sunridge, and 1476 Albite Dr., next to the Topaz Ranch Estates fire station.
Residents who obtained a copy of the burn regulations in the fall do not need to obtain another copy; just call the dispatch center prior to burning, 782-9969.
Douglas County residents living in the Sierra Forest Fire District are asked to call 885-9369 to obtain yard cleanup burn information.
The Sierra Forest Fire District covers the Jacks Valley and Indian Hills areas and the west side of Foothill Road from Jacks Valley to the California border with the exception of Genoa.
