Nominations sought for community awards
On Nov. 9, the community will gather for the seventh year to recognize the best the Valley has to offer.
The Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce and Record-Courier Community Recognition Awards Gala will honor winners in five categories; business of the year, employee of the year, nonprofit/service club of the year, volunteer of the year and citizen of the year at a ‘Carson Valley formal’ dinner at the Carson Valley Inn.
Nominations for the awards are now being accepted.
The nominating letters are then turned over to a committee of volunteers who make the final selection. It only takes one letter of nomination to be considered, and the process is not an ‘election’ as the number of letters received in support of a particular person or group is not a factor.
Nominating letters must be received at the chamber office in the museum at 1477 Highway 395 in Gardnerville by the end of day on Oct. 25.
The selections will be announced the following week, and those selected will be guests of honor at the event. The event will feature entertainment, dinner and wine, the opportunity to bid on silent auction baskets created by members of the chamber’s board of directors, and most importantly, a chance to be a part of saying ‘thank you’ to the honorees.
In addition to the chamber and Record-Courier, sponsors for this year’s event include Carson Valley Medical Center, GE-Measurement & Control, Nevada State Bank, Douglas County, and Carson Valley Accounting.
Nomination forms can be downloaded at http://www.carsonvalleynv.org (click on Community Awards Gala at the home page), along with the menu for the evening and more information. Reservations can be made at that web page as well.
