Night work begins Monday on Highway 395

Staff Reports

Night work to seal Highway 395 from Mono Lane in Minden to the junction with Highway 50 will begin Monday night.

Nevada Department of Transportation spokeswoman Meg Ragonese said the flush seal is to help preserve the roadway surface.

Work will begin at 6 p.m. Monday and wrap up at 4:30 a.m. Friday, she said. Work will resume 6 p.m. Aug. 17.

“Our maintenance forces will be placing this flush seal on the highway essentially as a top seal to help preserve the roadway surface,” she said. “Highway 395 will be limited to one lane in the area that crews are working on at the time. For the safety of drivers and road maintenance crews, the speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph.”

Ragonese said the lane closures won’t happen during the daytime.

“We want to thank drivers for their patience and remind them to drive slowly and safely through all road work zones,” she said. “This is part of our proactive pavement preservation program through which we preserve the roadway surface before it reaches time for more extensive and costly repairs.”

A lane of Highway 395 is expected to be closed while crews tear down the mercantile building on the Bently Heritage site at Highway 395 and Buckeye.
