New sheriff’s deputy sworn in

Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini announced the recent appointment of a new Douglas County Deputy Sheriff.

Christopher Wiggins was sworn in Dec.1 in a ceremony held at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Valley Station, in Minden.

The appointment comes as a result of several months of testing and evaluation consisting of a written examination, physical agility test, oral interview, extensive background investigation, psychological evaluation, polygraph examination and medical exam.

Deputy Wiggins will now undergo a rigorous 12-week jail training program to provide him with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform his duties as a jail deputy.

Deputy Wiggins currently resides in Gardnerville with his wife and two children. Deputy Wiggins transferred from the Huntington Park Police Department, Huntington Park, Calif., where he was a police officer for seven years.
