New enrollment deadlines for UNR students
January 10, 2012
New enrollment application deadlines have been set for prospective students planning to attend the University of Nevada, Reno in fall 2012. The freshmen application deadline is June 1, and the transfer-student application deadline is July 15.
In advance of these deadlines is the university’s annual, Feb. 1 scholarship deadline. Entering freshmen who apply by Feb. 1 are automatically considered for the full range of general scholarships offered by the University. After that date, scholarships are pending available funds.
“The mistake that many entering freshmen make is waiting too long to apply,” said Stephen Maples, the University’s director of admissions. “Embarking on the path toward a college degree requires planning, and these deadlines provide milestones to help keep qualified and prepared students on that path.”
The new enrollment application deadlines were recently established as a means to manage enrollment levels for the immediate future.
“The objective is to make adjustments in a way that supports student success while we also slow the growth in enrollment,” explained Maples.
The minimum grade-point average for incoming freshmen remains a 3.0 in the high-school academic courses, which include courses in English, math, social sciences and natural sciences.
