Motorcyclist injured in Bridgeport collision

Staff Reports

A South Lake Tahoe motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday afternoon when he collided with a pickup eight miles north of Bridgeport.

The 61-year-old man was southbound on State Route 182 when he crossed into the northbound lanes and struck the left rear quarterpanel of a F-250 pickup driven by a Winnemucca man.

The motorcyclist, whose identity was not released on Friday sustained serious injuries. He was helicoptered to Renown Regional Medical Center by CareFlight helicopter.

“Now that the weather is warming up, and getting nice, we will be seeing more motorcycle riders in Mono County,” said CHP Bridgeport Area office commander Lt. R.D. Cohan. “I encourage them to ride safely, and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. I hope other motorists are always attentive to the possibility of a vehicle traveling the opposite direction crossing into their lane, and that they have a plan to avoid a collision.”
