Mono deputies arrest Nevada men on drug charges
Two Nevada men were arrested by Mono County Sheriff’s deputies on Monday morning after a traffic stop on Highway 395 near the Mammoth turnoff.
Jose Arreola, 29, of Reno, and passenger Esidro Andrade, 33, of Sparks, were stopped at 10:50 a.m. for not having a registration sticker.
Arreola told deputies that a friend of his had stolen the license plate for the vehicle.
After deputies learned Andrade had a felony narcotics conviction and Arreola had an arrest warrant out of San Bernardino, they requested a search by narcotics detection dog, Tara.
A physical search of the vehicle revealed a glass pipe and more than 15 grams of methamphetamine sitting between the driver’s and passenger’s seat. Both men were taken into custody and brought to the Mono County Jail in Bridgeport.
Arreola faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession for sale, driving without a license and forging or altering a vehicle registration.
Andrade was arrested for possession of a controlled substance; possession for sale; possession of paraphernalia; and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Both men were in custody at the Mono County Jail on Tuesday.
All charges are pending with the Mono County District Attorney’s Office.
