Mono county officials plan training exercise Thursday
The Mono County Sheriff’s Office and Eastern Sierra Unified School District will stage a simulated rapid development training exercise Thursday at Eastern Sierra Academy in Bridgeport.
The training is part of an ongoing effort to keep Mono County schools safe and train sheriff’s officers how to handle school site situations, said Sheriff Dan Paranick.
The school district has been working with the sheriff’s office to provide detailed diagrams of each school so current information is available if an emergency should occur.
Thursday’s exercise will prepare officers in how to best handle an emergency and provide practical hands-on experience in a school site setting.
Since the Eastern Sierra Academy is adjacent to Bridgeport Elementary and the school district central office, officers wanted people to know what was going on. Students and parents were also notified about the training, Paranick said.
