Minden woman answers trivia question on ‘Regis’ show
If two Douglas County television stars weren’t enough for the month of March, last Wednesday Minden resident Ellen Huber was the trivia question winner on the Regis and Kathie Lee morning show on ABC.
Huber, who worked for a video store and said she comes from a long line of film buffs, was asked a movie question.
“The question was about what movie actor was in the 1986 film, ‘Dirty Dancing’ and also in the 1988 movie, ‘Ghost,'” she said. “Right away, I knew the answer was Patrick Swayze.”
Huber said twice a month she sends a postcard in to the New York City-based show, hoping to get called for the trivia contest at the beginning of the show.
“Once I did get called, but I was the third one in line and the second person answered the question correctly,” she said.
Monday, Huber was called from the show which was taping in the Bahamas, and she was first in line.
“They kept me on hold from the Bahamas for about an hour,” she said.
After answering the question correctly, Huber and one audience member won a television set valued at $400.
Usually, the person on the phone is allowed to pick a number after answering the question correctly, and the person sitting in that number’s seat in the studio in New York also gets a prize.
“Since they were taping in the Bahamas, they said the first person to come up to the stage with a mask and snorkel would get the prize,” Huber said.
That show aired Wednesday, March 5.
