Carson Valley resident Jan Vandermade has opened a State Farm Insurance agency in Carson City at 1940 Highway 50.

Succeeding retiring agent Dana Hill, Vandermade was formerly the area director of marketing for Marriott Vacation Club’s resorts at Lake Tahoe for 10 years and attended the University of Colorado, majoring in business.

Joining Vandermade will be Dawn Gribble, Angie Azevedo and Matt Riddle.

All together, the team represents more than 25 years of insurance and customer service experience.

Vandermade is a member of both the Carson City and Carson Valley chambers of commerce.

He and his wife Gena are 25-year-plus residents of Carson Valley. They have three children and enjoy surfing, motocross, skateboarding and snowboarding, plus golf.

They’re also members of Hilltop Community Church in Carson City.

Vandermade said he is excited about the new opportunity and anxious to provide “good neighbor service.”

“In this fast-paced world, where everything is ‘e,’ I know it’s still very important to our customers to be able to actually reach a ‘me,’ as in an agent who knows their customer and can be effective in responding to their unique needs,” he said.

State Farm’s 17,700 agents and more than 67,000 employees serve 81 million policies and accounts – almost 79 million auto, fire, life and health policies in the United States and Canada, and nearly 2 million bank accounts.
