Minden girl fighting for her life in a California hospital
Five-year-old Minden resident Jayden Kay Cooley is at Lucille Packard Hospital after the right side of her heart stopped working in mid-June.
Family and friends are raising money for the Minden Elementary School student who was flown to Palo Alto for treatment, according to her grandmother Tanya Scott, who works for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
“She has been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension which has caused the right side of her heart to stop working,” Scott said. “She has had three blood transfusions, blood clots, lots of fluid build-up on her lungs.”
Scott said her daughter Marie and boyfriend Shawn have not left Jayden’s side since she was stricken.
The couple also has a 3-year-old son, who is being taken care of by the family.
“They could use any help they can get for food and on going expenses as they have no indication of how long they will be here,” Scott said.
“Please pray for our beautiful 5-year-old angel.”
