Minden barber a cut above
May 7, 2007
The owner of Minden Village Barber & Styling put out her own barber pole because she wanted to provide the services of a private men’s salon in Carson Valley.
Dee Goodman is a master barber/stylist with 36-years’ experience. The idea behind having her own barbershop was to provide a comfortable environment where men could enjoy salon services such as clipper cuts, styles, shaves, facials, manicures, pedicures, color, brow and ear waxing.
“This is a cut above a barbershop,” said Goodman. “I’m trying to do something different than a redneck barbershop. A barbershop is a clip joint – this is a men’s ‘salon’ and women are welcome.”
The waiting room and service area are in separate areas of Goodman’s shop.
“Having a private room makes it so men feel comfortable to have these services done,” she said.
Goodman’s customers include people who have been receiving maintenance cuts for years, military personnel from Pickel Meadow, women and children. Many of her clients are referrals and Goodman said a lot of the time she works with same-day appointments.
