A church will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland complete with artificial snow and snowflakes Saturday for the Carson Valley United Methodist Church craft fair. Doors open at 9 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m.

“Everything is handmade,” said Sharon Calvert, Craft Fair chairwoman.“Our Methodist women put on the charity and all the crafts are homemade, there isn’t anything not made by our church members.”

The craft fair is an annual charity event and proceeds go to local charity foundations, including Austin’s House, Kids & Horses, the City of Refuge, and the Food Closet.

The craft fair will have a variety of gift baskets, a silent auction, a luncheon of chili, salad and cornbread for $5 and “Grandma’s Attic.” Grandma’s Attic is a boutique of gently used items.

“There’s nice things in there,” said Calvert. “No clothes, but nice trinkets and a variety of items.”

Children will have the opportunity to listen to stories with Santa and enjoy homemade gingerbread men cookies.

Story times are at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Kids can shop in the kids only area where everything is $3 and gift-wrapped.

There also will be a “Big Awesome Bake Sale” with a variety of baked goods for sale such as cookies, pumpkin bread, cakes and pies including the Methodist Church’s traditional cinnamon rolls which will be available in the morning for $2 a roll.

“This event gets bigger every year,“said Calvert. “We want people to come out to shop and have fun.”
