McDonald’s hosts fundraiser for employee hurt in accident

Staff Reports

McDonald’s Restaurant in Minden, owned by Chris and Sharon Kassity, is hosting a fundraiser 4-8 p.m. Friday to benefit employee Andrea Navarro who was injured in a motorcycle crash.

“Andrea was severely injured in a motorcycle accident, and is in critical need of assistance to help with her necessary medical bills,” said a McDonald’s spokesman.

The restaurant management and crew members are encouraging members of the community to come out to the restaurant on Friday.

During that time, 20 percent of sales will be donated to the Navarro family to assist them in their time of need. Drawings will occur every half hour so customers will have an opportunity to win prizes.

The restaurant is at 1666 Highway 395, Minden.

The accident occurred on May 27. Navarro was on the back of a motorcycle at Douglas High School when the driver hit a puddle and lost control of the bike. Both were thrown from the motorcycle, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Navarro received a compound fracture to her leg and was helicoptered to Reno.
