Marine agrees to pay restitution

Charges against William Kelly Tyre, a Marine based at the Pickel Meadows base south of Coleville, were dismissed on the condition he pay restitution between $1,800-$5,000.

Tyre, 37, was charged with two counts of willful damage to a motor vehicle and three counts of destruction of property, all gross misdemeanors. He was not present in East Fork Justice Court last Wednesday when the District Attorney’s office dismissed the charges.

Tyre was arrested in connection with felony burglary on Oct. 9 after business owners called police to a say a man was breaking windows in multiple buildings on Highway 395 north of Sharkey’s casino.

Windows were broken at Sager’s Ceramics, Netti’s Fashions and the Dance Workshop, all north of Sharkey’s on Highway 395.. Business owners also reported garbage was thrown around and items were removed from of a shed.

According to the District Attorney’s office, Tyre has paid restitution, but some business owners still have to determine how much was spent to fix the damage.

Judge Jim EnEarl put a cap on the restitution at $5,000.
