Marine 7 pulls trio from Lake Memorial Day
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Marine 7 received its first call not long after its maiden voyage for the 2016 season.
On Memorial Day at 1:30 p.m. Marine 7 was on routine patrol and noticed a personal watercraft stopped about an 1/8 of a mile off the shore of Nevada Beach.
When they approached the watercraft, they heard a shout for help from a male.
The sheriff’s deputies found three males ranging in age from 13-31 years who had crashed the watercraft, and lost the key.
All three were nearly hypothermic, and the 13 year old complained of neck pain from the crash.
The occupants of the Jet Ski were taken by Marine 7 to the Ski Run Marina where they were treated by South Lake Tahoe Paramedics and transported to Barton Memorial Hospital. All three were wearing personal flotation devices and it was determined that they had been in the water for about 25 minutes. Marine 7 towed the disabled watercraft to shore.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind the public it is imperative to wear a personal flotation device on Lake Tahoe.
