Man with weapon arrested
A Gardnerville man was arrested Saturday for assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm in a residence and possession of a firearm while intoxicated after deputies responded to reports of a domestic battery near the 2200 block of Chocktaw Ridge. The suspect, identified as Robert D. Higginbotham, 53, had allegedly pointed a 357 rifle at the victim, cocked the gun and told him to leave the residence. According to reports, Higginbotham fired a shot into the air inside the residence to scare the victim. He had a .286 blood alcohol level.
His bail was set at $50,600.
Daniel Simons, 29, of Gardnerville, was arrested for burglary after deputies responded to reports of a man breaking into a vehicle near the 900 block of Fairway Drive at 3:03 a.m., Monday. He allegedly told deputies that he had found an unlocked vehicle with a car charger inside and had entered the vehicle to charge his phone.
His bail was set at $25,000.
Bradley S. James, 52, of Gardnerville, was arrested for intoxicated pedestrian on the highway after deputies responded to reports of an unknown problem at 4:45 p.m., Saturday. Once on scene, they found a man laying in the road near James Road and Lyell Way. Deputies said the man was extremely intoxicated and couldn’t stand up on his own, though he refused to give a breath sample. Deputies took him to the regional hospital to have him cleared by doctors before transporting him to the Minden jail.
His bail as set at $500.
