Man tazed in arrest
A man accused of threatening a woman with a knife was tazed on Monday evening by deputies after he refused to submit to arrest.
Bernard Pickard, 47, was booked into Douglas County Jail after deputies responded to Blue Spruce Court on a domestic battery call.
Pickard appeared in East Fork Justice Court on Wednesday.
■ A South Lake Tahoe man was arrested on Monday after he was reported for driving erratically in a Minden fast food drive through.
Charles David Yale Austin, 36, was contacted in the restaurant’s parking lot and when deputies tried to pull him out of the vehicle, he stabbed himself in the hand with a syringe. When a deputy tried to prevent him from injecting himself, the needle broke off in his hand. He then squirted the contents of the syringe into his mouth.
Austin was taken into custody on a parole and probation hold.
■ A Foothill woman who was arrested for driving under the influence may face a felony charge.
Jill L. Spaniol was arrested on Monday after another driver recorded her erratic driving.
According to court documents, she was also arrested on July 30 for driving under the influence. She submitted to a blood test.
■ A Gardnerville woman reported that a group arrested in Carson City for selling care packages sold her one on July 29.
She reported that at 4 p.m. a man and woman came to her door and asked if she wanted to send a care package overseas.
She said she gave then a $25 check, which she canceled.
