Man killed in Lake Tahoe collision
A Los Angeles man was killed Saturday night in a collision on Highway 50 at Glenbrook.
Aquiles Molero, 36, died of injuries sustained when the Toyota Corolla he was riding in crossed the highway’s centerline into the path of an oncoming Subaru.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the Toyota was northbound when the driver, Carlos Ortego Gomez, of Mexico, lost control at about 9:40 p.m.
The vehicle rotated as it entered the southbound lanes so the Subaru, driven by Carson City resident Virgilio Ballesteros hit the passenger side of the Toyota.
According to Trooper Duncan Dauber, everyone in the vehicles was wearing seatbelts.
The westbound lanes of Highway 50 were shut down for several hours.
The highway was wet and icy at the time of the collision.
