A 21-year-old Gardnerville man faces life in prison with the possibility of parole after admitting on Nov. 29 that he had sex with a 13-year-old girl.
Juan Daniel Martir is scheduled to be sentenced this morning in Douglas County District Court after pleading guilty to one count of lewdness with a child under 14, a class A felony.
In exchange for his guilty plea, the district attorney is dismissing three felony counts of sexual assault against a child under 14.
Both sides are free to argue at sentencing, but life in prison is mandatory for Martir with the possibility of parole after 10 years. He was ineligible for probation.
Martir was arrested Oct. 20 and accused of exposing himself to the girl at her Ruhenstroth home.
The incident was discovered by an adult caretaker with whom the girl lives. The caretaker found Martir, identified as a family friend, exposing himself to the girl in the residence.
