Man arrested after offering decoys marijuana during alcohol sting
July 11, 2012
A Los Angeles man was arrested for possession of marijuana after he offered some to juveniles who were working an alcohol purchase shoulder tap operation at Zephyr Cove Beach on July 4th.
Michael Hutchings, 39, was the only arrest during the alcohol purchase sting that resulted in 15 adults receiving citations.
Douglas County and Carson City deputies conducted the sting targeting adults who purchase alcohol for juveniles.
Three juveniles working with deputies contacted random adults and told them they weren’t old enough to buy alcohol. They asked the adults to do that for them.
The juveniles told the adults they were staying at a cabin. If the adult showed up with alcohol and gave it to the minors, they were cited.
All alcohol taken from the adults was documented and disposed of. Drugs or other evidence was booked into evidence. None of the juveniles was allowed to drink any of the alcohol or keep it.
