Man accused of threatening woman with ax
Bail is $32,500 for a 28-year-old Indian Hills man who was arrested Wednesday after he reportedly threatened his former girlfriend by swinging and throwing an ax toward her.
Joseph Lokting is set for arraignment Friday in East Fork Justice Court on allegations of assault with a firearm, domestic battery and kidnapping.
The woman said he arrived at her home in the 3400 block of Vista Grande Boulevard shortly after midnight and knocked on the windows.
She said he threatened to scream if she refused to go with him. When she resisted, she said he grabbed her by the wrist and threatened to hurt her.
She accompanied him to his nearby residence, and once inside he yelled and screamed at her, and threatened her with two small axes.
He threw one which missed her and struck the wall.
According to the report, the woman screamed for help from Lokting’s mother who was in the house. He reportedly sat on the victim and placed his hands over her mouth and nose restricting her breathing.
She said he ordered her to lie down on his bed where he fell asleep and she left.
She told deputies she had been too afraid to report the incident because the suspect threatened to kill her.
He was picked up around 2 p.m. walking on Mica Drive. He denied the victim’s allegations, and claimed she hit him.
