Main Street offers Valentine flower baskets
Surprise your valentine this year by giving a basket of flowers that will last all summer long.
As an alternative to traditional bouquets or chocolates that disappear within a week, residents can sponsor a hanging flower basket that will last from June through September along Highway 395 in Gardnerville.
This allows valentines to become a part of the beautification of downtown Gardnerville and to be supporters of the horticultural programs at China Spring Youth Camp and Aurora Pines Girls Facility, Douglas High and Smith Valley School.
“This summer our goal is to hang 58 baskets, and Main Street Gardnerville needs your help,” said Main Street Manager Paula Lochridge.
The donation amount is $75 per basket. Gardnerville officials plan to hang the fully flowering baskets in early June, weather permitting. The town waters them throughout the growing season.
To sponsor a basket, call 782-8027. Buyers receive a card with a special Valentine’s Day message.
“This is a thoughtful way to say Happy Valentine’s Day or perhaps the perfect gift for a birthday or anniversary,” said Lochridge. “The card can be modified for other occasions.”
Main Street Gardnerville is a community-based self-help program with various members of the community volunteering to revitalize downtown.
