Las Vegas woman killed in accident near Tonopah
The identity of the victim in a fatal accident near Tonopah on Saturday was released by the Nevada Highway Patrol today.
Las Vegas resident Sharon Lehan, 71, was killed, and driver John Lehan, 76, was injured when the red 1999 Nissan Quest they were in left Highway 6 and rolled on Saturday morning.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the Nissan was westbound when it crossed the centerline then across the eastbound lanes and off the south side of the highway.
The Nissan front struck a paddle marker and traveled approximately 557 feet before striking a culvert and overturning, according to NHP spokeswoman Barbara Stapleton.
Both occupants were wearing their seat belts, Stapleton said.
Mr. Lehan, who sustained injuries to his upper body, was extricated from the Nissan and was transported to Nye County Hospital.
